The Year Round Distribution Project was officially
established in 1992. The YRDP provides monthly supplemental food
supplies to about 30 food pantries, helping to supply about 5,000 meals per
month to families in need of assistance. The project now represents
over 40% of CRFP’s budget.
The Year Round Distribution Project takes place nine
months out of the year. The food pantries that Capital Region Food Program
works with place an order for the amount of food that they would like to
receive at the distribution. Then CRFP purchases the food for the
distribution through Market Basket in Concord, NH. The food arrives at
Market Basket out front, just in time for pick up. Volunteers come and
help organize the food for each of the organizations receiving to make it
faster for pick up. Each organization brings their vehicle to the
front of Market Basket and volunteers help them load the food. The entire
process only takes about 2 hours from start to finish.
